Happy New Year!!
It is almost hard to believe that 2012 is over and the New Year has dawned. With the beginning of each New Year, we instinctively HOPE that the New Year will bring better more satisfaction than the last one did. If you had a great 2012, you are probably hoping that the momentum continues into 2013 and carries you to even more satisfaction. If 2012 was a year to forget, you look to 2013 as a fresh start and an opportunity to leave the past behind.
As we at HOPE61 look to 2013, we are excited to see what God has in store for us. As we began 2012, we were looking forward to getting our first missionary onto a foreign field. Lauren spent the first part of 2012 in training and left for the Philippines in May. I was fortunate to travel to the Philippines with her, although I only stayed for two weeks. Lauren’s dedication to her call from God and her full obedience to Him as she grappled with culture shock and the beginnings of her ministry in Manila, were inspirational to me as the director of the ministry. There were many bumps in the road for Lauren in 2012, even bringing her back to the U.S. unexpectedly for a time. As 2013 dawns, Lauren has a new partner to minister with in the Philippines and will leave on January 10th, 2013 to complete her 2 year term.
God continues to bless the HOPE61 ministry and our prayer is, that by the end of 2013, we will have missionaries on 5 different fields. From the anticipation of just 1 in 2012 to 5 in 2013 is a result that only God is powerful enough to fulfill. Emily will depart for Australia and New Zealand in mid-February for a short term (4 months) assignment and the goal is to have her ministering long term in Ireland by the end of the year. Bethany has begun to raise her support and we are expecting her to be ministering in Thailand by the end of the year, as well. We also expect to have two more missionaries that will add the HOPE61 ministry in addition to their other ministries on the field in Haiti and Mexico by the end of 2013.
Only God knows what 2013 will bring to HOPE61. We are confident that God will continue to be faithful to us as long as we remain obedient to Him and giving Him all the glory, honor and praise. We celebrate the work God performed through HOPE61 and look forward to an even more glorious 2013.
Will you join us in praying that 2013 will be the year in which significant progress is made toward eliminating the evil of human trafficking in our world?
